Practicum Rotations

The Medical Assisting Practicum gives students the chance to put their classroom knowledge into action and refine the hands-on skills needed to succeed in healthcare. During this 160-hour, unpaid practicum, students work during regular business hours in real-world ambulatory healthcare settings, guided by experienced professionals who understand the medical assisting field.

Students gain experience performing a wide range of clinical and administrative tasks, ensuring they’re ready to step confidently into their careers. Practicum settings include:

  • Physician offices and hospitals
  • Ambulatory care and rehabilitation clinics
  • Laboratories and dialysis centers
  • Pain management and mental health/addiction clinics
  • And many more healthcare facilities

This practical experience helps students bridge the gap between learning and professional practice, giving them the confidence and skills employers value most.

Licensure Information

The Medical Assisting Certificate program is formally affiliated with American Medical Technologists (AMT); students completing the program are eligible to sit for the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) exam.
